Description
Calella, tourist capital of the Costa del Maresme, is a full-fledged resort town. With its broad coarse sand beach stretching over 3 km, a large hotel infrastructure, with campgrounds to suit all needs, with leisure and fun ensured at nightfall… This and much more have made Calella one of the prime destination resorts in all of Europe.
The scenery, full of sharp-edged cliffs carved out by the sea’s never-ending pounding, gives us an idea of the proximity of the Costa Brava. The town’s lighthouse, inaugurated in 1859, is located on a hill atop the entry to the town and has become one of its most familiar landmarks.
Suggested visits include the Santa Maria Archpriest’s Church, a Neo-Classical edifice with Baroque portico; the Giol, Bartrina, Galceran and Sivilla Houses, as well as the Chapel of Sant Quirze and Santa Julita. The Museum-Archives and the Gallart Pinacotheque are also worth a visit.
Another visit where your time will certainly be well spent is the Dalmau Park, a park with a garden area, pergolas and a beautiful wooded corner, just the right counterpoint after an intense day out on the beach.
